Day 02: 124 J&K residents in Pakistan evacuated, 74 still stranded | KNO

Srinagar, June 26 (KNO): The administration of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Friday evacuated 124 more J&K residents who were stranded in Pakistan on day-two of the evacuation process while only 74 are yet to be air-lifted Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Preeti sharma, Manager J&K House, Amritsar, who is also nodal officer for evacuation of J&K residents stranded in Pakistan, said that 124 J&K residents were evacuated on second day of evacuation process. She said all the J&K residents were received here in Amritsar at Wagah border under a very smooth atmosphere and were sent to their respective districts in state road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses, adding that all the J&K residents evacuated yesterday have reached to their respective districts and are under quarantine there. She said as per the data available with her there were 402 J&K residents stranded in Pakistan but they have received 204 on Thursday and 124 today while the remaining 74 are still there and they were not sure about them as to when they would reach Wagah. She said was to evacuate all J&K stranded people in two days only as per our strategy as 250 were scheduled to be evacuated on day-1 and the rest on day-2 but the number changed on both days as the expected number was not achieved on both the days and now we are left with 74 only. She also said tomorrow is one more day for the passengers from Pakistan to this side we have to go tomorrow also and we are exerting 74 and we are not sure whether they will come or not since 402 is the figure freezed by the authorities earlier for the evacuation process in total. Pertinently, Preeti Sharma nodal officer for evacuation process earlier told KNO that at least 402 J&K residents are being brought back via Wagha border in Amritsar stranded in Pakistan due to lockdown enforced in both the countries to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic—(KNO)
